IT'S all about family time and fitness as an award winning sports program returns to Tamworth.
The 'Daughters and Dads Active and Empowered Program' aims to give young girls the skills and confidence they need to play sport - all with the help of their own fathers.
Tamworth dad Daniel Cannon previously participated in the program with his daughter Lily, and said it was a great opportunity to spend one-on-one time with her.
"It's hard having three kids at home to have that focused one-on-one time," Mr Cannon said.
Every Tuesday Mr Cannon and Lily spent the afternoon doing a variety of activities such as netball, basketball, tee-ball and fitness circuits with the other families in the program.
Lily said her favourite part was the warm up activities, which included fun games like 'surfing on dad'.
"I learnt how to hit a tee-ball and to have a go at things even if I didn't know what it is, or think I might not be good at," Lily said.
While it was all about having fun, Mr Cannon said the program included a lot of theory about empowering young girls and building up their confidence and self esteem.
"It was really great to find things we like to do together and build those bonds when they're younger, so when they're older they can come to dad and talk about things," he said.
The Cannon family enjoyed the program so much Mr Cannon has become an un-official ambassador for the fitness clinic in his friend group.
"I've told heaps of dads I know to enroll, it was a great bonding experience, we still talk about it now," he said.
