Daughters & Dads Active & Empowered
Original version of the program focused on improving health and wellbeing by getting girls and their dads/father-figures active together.
Practical component of the program teaches sport skills required to engage in a wide range of ball sports as well as ways dads and daughters can engage in physical activity together that are fun and beneficial to both.
High quality research shows the program improves:
Daughters’ physical activity, sport skills, screentime, social-emotional wellbeing.
Fathers’ physical activity, parenting, co-physical activity.
Father-daughter relationships, family functioning.
Sport-Adapted Programs
Provide each daughter with a 1-on-1 coach (i.e. their dad), leading to drastic skill improvement
Safer and more supportive introduction to sport than other entry-level programs.
Daughters and dads engage in activities together that improve game understanding and affinity with women’s teams/superstars, leading to lifelong engagement in the sport.
Increase girls’ grassroots participation, as well as the pool of coaches and officials (through dads becoming more involved).
Fathers are upskilled with effective coaching principles and taught to adapt activities for their daughter, meaning girls of any age and experience level improve their skills
The programs also include social-emotional wellbeing education, taught in the context of each specific sport, preparing girls for success in the sporting arena and beyond.
